Crypto position size calculator
Estimate a crypto position quantity and entry notional from account size, a chosen risk percentage, entry price, stop price, and trade direction.
Estimate a position quantity from the account amount you enter, your chosen loss budget, and the price distance from entry to stop. This is an arithmetic scenario; it does not select a risk percentage for you.
Enter the five assumptions and calculate.
The result assumes the entered stop price is the exit price. It excludes trading fees, funding, slippage, gaps, contract multipliers, lot-size increments, margin and leverage limits, and taxes. Actual loss can exceed the estimate if execution differs from the stop price. The notional is the position's entry value, not the required margin.
Method
- Risk budget = account size × risk percentage ÷ 100.
- Price risk per coin = absolute value of entry price − stop price.
- Estimated quantity = risk budget ÷ price risk per coin.
- Entry notional = estimated quantity × entry price.
For a long position the stop must be below entry. For a short position it must be above entry. This tool checks that relationship but does not assess whether a trade or risk amount is suitable.

How it works
Enter the account amount in quote currency, the percentage of that amount you choose to risk, entry and stop prices, and long or short direction. The calculator estimates a quantity and its entry notional from the stop distance.
Good to know
How is the position quantity estimated?
The risk budget is account size multiplied by the chosen risk percentage. Divide that budget by the absolute price distance between entry and stop to estimate quantity. Entry notional is quantity multiplied by entry price.
Does the estimate cap leverage or guarantee a maximum loss?
No. It does not check margin, leverage, exchange contract rules, fees, slippage, or whether a stop executes at its trigger price. A gap or execution difference can make the realized loss larger than the entered risk budget.
