How the eight MACD and ATR trend phases are classified
Reproducible method for the crypto trend state radar: closed-candle MACD(12,26,9), Wilder ATR(14), DIF normalization, eight phase rules, thresholds, and a synthetic example.
Which MACD and ATR settings does the radar use?
The method uses MACD(12, 26, 9), SMA-seeded exponential averages, and Wilder ATR(14). DIF is divided by ATR(14) for a price-scale normalization. Only closed candles are classified; the v1 data qualification requires at least 200 closed candles per timeframe.
What does “near zero” mean?
The absolute value of DIF divided by ATR(14) is below 0.25, and the absolute DIF is moving toward zero compared with the previous candle. The threshold is configured in radar/config.json.
Does a phase predict price direction?
No. The labels describe the current calculated DIF state and selected thresholds. They are a market-state monitor, not a trading signal or prediction.
