Perpetual funding cost calculator

Estimate perpetual futures funding paid or received from your notional, signed rate, position side, and number of settlements.

Estimate funding cash flow for a constant-notional scenario. Funding is exchanged between opposing perpetual-contract positions; this estimate is not a trading recommendation.

Enter the four assumptions and calculate.

The signed rate is entered as a percentage: 0.01 means 0.01% per settlement; negative values are allowed. The model assumes the same notional and rate for every event. It excludes trading fees, changes in mark price or position size, and venue-specific contract rules. A settlement count is not a prediction of exact funding times.

Method and sources

Estimated funding cash flow = notional × funding rate × settlement events. For Binance USDⓈ-M futures, the official documentation describes the funding amount as position nominal value multiplied by the funding rate. Binance states that positive rates charge longs and credit shorts; negative rates reverse those flows. Contract intervals can vary, so verify the current contract details and whether your position is open at settlement.

How it works

Enter the same position notional and funding rate for each settlement, choose long or short, and calculate a constant-rate scenario. Positive results are estimated payments; negative results are estimated credits.

Good to know

How is the funding amount estimated?

This scenario multiplies position notional by the funding rate and settlement count. Binance documents the funding amount as position nominal value times funding rate; its USDⓈ-M mark-price endpoint returns a funding rate and next funding time. This page uses your entered assumptions and does not fetch a live or historical rate.

Who pays when the funding rate is positive?

For Binance perpetual contracts, Binance says a positive funding rate means long position holders pay short position holders; a negative rate reverses the direction. Select the side whose estimated cash flow you want to model. Confirm the contract-specific terms and current rate with your venue.

Does the funding interval stay fixed?

No. Funding intervals can vary by contract and may be adjusted. Enter the number of settlement events you expect to remain exposed through; this calculator does not determine settlement times or whether your position is open at a settlement.
