Bitcoin mining break-even calculator
Estimate Bitcoin miner daily energy use, electricity cost, pool-adjusted revenue, net after electricity, and break-even electricity price from your assumptions.
Estimate a Bitcoin miner's daily electricity cost and expected pool-adjusted revenue from assumptions you supply. This is a static scenario, not a live profitability quote or a prediction.
Enter all seven assumptions and calculate.
Enter the mean total reward per block, including subsidy and transaction fees, for the period you want to model. Difficulty, block reward, BTC price, electricity tariff, and pool terms can change. The calculation assumes continuous operation for 24 hours and a constant share of network work; it does not fetch or refresh any input.
Method and assumptions
- Expected blocks found per day = miner hashes per second × 86,400 ÷ (difficulty × 2³²).
- Expected BTC per day = expected blocks × entered average total block reward.
- Pool-adjusted revenue = expected BTC × entered BTC price × (1 − pool fee).
- Daily electricity use = watts ÷ 1,000 × 24; electricity cost = daily kWh × price per kWh.
- Break-even electricity price = pool-adjusted daily revenue ÷ daily kWh.
Difficulty expresses proof-of-work competition, and the Mempool API exposes network hashrate/difficulty, reward statistics, average block rewards, and fees. Use data for a clearly stated period when choosing your own inputs. Pool payout rules, uptime, rejected shares, hardware purchase and maintenance, cooling, demand charges, taxes, and downtime are excluded. Expected pool revenue is an average across many block opportunities; short-term realized payouts can vary substantially, especially for solo mining.

How it works
Enter miner hashrate, power draw, electricity price, pool fee, BTC price, network difficulty, and average total block reward. The tool estimates expected daily BTC and compares pool-adjusted revenue with electricity cost.
Good to know
Does this use current Bitcoin difficulty, reward, or price?
No. Enter the network difficulty, average total block reward including transaction fees, and BTC price you want to model. The page does not fetch live data.
Does break-even electricity price mean the miner is fully profitable?
No. It only balances modeled pool-adjusted revenue against electricity cost. Hardware, cooling, maintenance, hosting, taxes, downtime, and other costs are excluded.
